Review: Canon PowerShot S30
Znews.com --
This top-rated 3.2 megapixel camera is part of Canon's high-end digital camera line. It's an excellent camera, and at a price of about $430, is one of the best overall values available on the market today.
The Powershot S30 features excellent design and photo quality, and provides a lot of user flexibility in a small package. While not a camera for professional photographers, the PowerShot S30 does provide a number of features that will give you a lot of control over your photos, and the 3.2 megapixel resolution, as well as the option to shoot in RAW format will give you more flexibility for quality pictures.
Exposure modes can be set to aperture priority, shutter-priority or manual exposure modes, or just shoot on automatic, which works great for everyday snapshots. Overall, there are a dozen modes to choose from, including movie mode which will give you about 30 seconds of full audio AVI movie to play with, and the camera boasts a 3x optical zoom.
The PowerShot 30 also offers superior performance for cameras in its price range, with quick autofocus and virtually no shutter lag (the time between when you press the shutter button and when the photo is snapped).
The images are stored on compact flash cards, and you can purchase larger cards for up to 1 GB of storage (about 600 pictures at maximum resolution).
Overall, this is really our top value pick for quality, features, and price in consumer digital cameras.
