Review: SD1000 and SD750 7.1MP Digital Elph Cameras
Znews.com -- December 6, 2007
One of the smallest ultra compact point-and-shoot digital cameras available, the PowerShot SD1000 7.1 MP Digital Elph camera measures only 3.4" x 0.8" x 2.1" and weighs in at just 4.3 ounces. You can't go wrong with the SD1000 and the SD750 -- depending on whether you want a larger LCD (SD750) or a viewfinder (SD1000). (Price & More Info).
The SD1000 is a great little camera, slightly less expensive than the SD750 and similar in many respects. Some of the differences are that the SD1000 has a slightly smaller LCD screen (2.5" diagonal) than the SD750. This makes room for an optical viewfinder on the SD1000, which most ultra-compact point-and-shoot cameras now do not include. The SD750 is also less boxy than the SD1000, and I find it slightly more ergonomically well designed.
Canon looked to the very first ELPH for inspiration when designing the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH, and came up with a quintessential iteration of the icon: slim, clean-lined and fully flat. Inside, the SD1000 Digital ELPH looks only to the future: 7.1 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom and advanced DIGIC III ensure top-quality images, while focus is fast and sharp and red-eye is automatically corrected.
The large and more colorful LCD screen now has a tough, anti-reflective coating that makes it as durable as it is beautiful. Shutter Speed - 15-1/1500 sec.; Long Shutter operates with noise reduction when manually set at 1.3-15 sec.
