FEATURED WRITER...

"Well, with a nice breakfast laid out before me and the promise
of a box lunch picnic at the dump, I stopped arguing. Instead, I
finished breakfast and went outside to load my sturdy work
truck with a year's accumulation of yard junk."

--Bud Mortenso

Bud Mortenson, (30), works for a
small community newspaper in Winfield, British
Columbia, Canada. He is married to Kim, (undisclosed
age), and they have two children: Andrew (2.1 yrs.)
and Daniel (12 wks.). They also have two cats: Sox
(2 yrs.) and Boots (2 yrs.) who were rescued from a
pet store just minutes before they were to be
destroyed by feeding them cat food from a tin.

Initially, the Weekend Warrior column was just a
lark, something to fill a few hours of time at work.
Then it became something much more: it became a
way to fill two column of white space in the paper!
Actually, it began to receive acclaim from many who
read the local newspaper, not the least of whom are
Bud's wife and other lesser-profile relatives. The
columns are written to be humorous, to poke fun at
everyday living and the trials of running a household
with absolutely no skill at all.

There are many reasons why a person writes. The
Weekend Warrior is truly written to make people
laugh. Publishing on the Internet isn't done to puff
chests, it is to propagate ideas to as large an audience
as possible. Writers who write for their own enjoyment
may be happy people, but writers who are read are happier.
